About the Position: Serves as a Supervisor for the Security Guard force located at HQ, US Army Forces Command, Ft Liberty, NC. Ft Liberty is a culturally diverse area with rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of NC and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains

Duties

Constantly reviews and evaluates guard functions for the purpose of updating these measures to comply with new security innovations. Ensure protection of government equipment and material, guarding access to controlled access points, protecting personnel. Oversee the completion of reports prior to submission to senior personnel. Prevent further destruction, loss of property, protects people, or overcomes and apprehends subjects who cause disturbances or emergencies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Emergency recall and must be able to work shifts, overtime and weekends, as required.
  • Must sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Critical under the Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program) and pass drug testing.
  • Must undergo periodic drug testing on a random basis.
  • Must pass the initial Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 90 days of the hiring date and pass the annual PAT test.
  • Must pass an initial and periodic medical examination.
  • Must complete initial and annual cardio-pulmonary resuscitation recertification and first aid.
  • Must be able to obtain and remain certified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) for position suitability.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle license.
  • Must wear the Security Guard uniform and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Must be able to wear chemical protection equipment.
  • Must undergo firearms testing on a semi-annual basis.
  • Must meet annual training and recertification requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a locally structured security guard training program or have successfully graduated from a U.S. Army Military Police School accredited academy.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Perform or supervise the performance of security guard functions by managing the guard workforce on assigned shift with the primary function of conducting access control; 2) Enforce or perform special security measures in the restricted, controlled facility to protect property, records, material and equipment against damage, fire, theft and the possibility of sabotage and espionage. 3) Plans, assigns, directs, and reviews the work of personnel engaged in protection of property and personnel from loss, damage, destruction or compromise within area of responsibility; 4) Ensure the guards are in compliance the rules and regulations pertaining to security and security forces responsibility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Managing Human ResourcesOral CommunicationPhysical SecuritySecurity Documentation Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
