Job opening: Management Analyst (Post-Secondary Student)

Salary: $53 105 - 84 441 per year
Employment Type: Part-time
Post-Secondary Students are TERM appointments NTE 4 yrs in the competitive service. Students may be non-competitively converted to a career or career-conditional appointment upon successful completion of an academic program; complete 640 hrs of continuous employment; meet OPM qualifications for the position; and meet time-in-grade requirements. This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Duties

Major duties at the GS-5 grade level include, but are not limited to: Tracks and monitors incoming correspondence. Types and proofreads documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Collects, reviews, organizes, and compiles organizational performance and demographic data regarding the management of the supported organization. Documents business rules and processes of the assigned organization. Supports organization projects and programs. Attends and participates in workgroups. Provides assistance and support concerning training and development. Under the mentorship and guidance of a higher graded coworker, conducts individual orientation for all new hires and transfers. Duties performed at the GS-7 grade level are similar to those performed at the GS-5 grade level, however, they will be performed under less supervision at the GS-7 level.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree at least half-time.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-05: Applicants must have 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university To qualify for the GS-07: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service or meet the education requirement or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-05, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: experience performing basic program analysis work; in administrative concepts and practices; monitoring procedures and office practices; experience in fact-finding and problem solving to ensure office conformity to applicable rules and regulations. OR You may also qualify based on 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) is automatically qualifying for the GS-7 level. SAA is based upon one of the following three criteria:1) Class standing - you must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university or major subdivision based on completed courses; or2) Grade Point Average (GPA) - you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of a possible 4.0) based on 4 years of education or based on courses completed during the final 2 years or a 3.5 GPA in the major field of study completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. OR Based on a combination of education and experience.

Education

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

See the "Required Documents" section of this announcement. If you do not submit a transcript indicating your possession of the required education, you will not be considered for this position.
