About the Position: Serves as a Traffic Management Specialist that provides SDDC and/or DOD advice and policy guidance on all transportation operations, traffic management and logistic operation issues and programs involving the movement of cargo in the Defense Transportation System. The results of the work affect major aspects of the Command's mission as a single manager for assigned areas of DOD transportation.
Duties
Responsible for developing guidelines for use by traffic managers.
Propose/Coordinate new policies and procedures to support DoD transportation/logistics operations and traffic management programs.
Project leader to collect and validate requirements and the implementation of solutions to satisfy the requirements for improved efficiency and
effectiveness.
Provides staff assistance and technical guidance to subordinate installations that result in effective and most economical procurement of
transportation.
Provide command and/or DOD advice and policy guidance on all transportation operations, traffic management and logistic operation issues
and programs involving the movement of cargo in the Defense Transportation System.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the
duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

To Qualify for the GS-12:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
Executing, managing, and/or supporting transportation services and coordinating with other agencies to meet requirements and ensure readiness of ocean terminal operations.
Providing advisory service to resolve transportation problems to ensure timely movement of cargo.
Manifesting cargo within the defense transportation system and/or global transportation network for accurate submission of transportation movements by shippers.
Operating at an ocean terminal to facilitate the efficient movement of import and export cargo.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
