This position is located in the Office of the Area Director, Great Plains Area Indian Health Service (GPAIHS), Aberdeen, SD. The position will function as the Area Deputy Director and as Director of Field Operations by providing first line supervision to designated Great Plains Area Service Unit Chief Executive Officers (CEO's).
Duties
Serves as the principal executive advisor to the Area Director in planning, executing, and coordinating administrative operations, policies and procedures, and serves as the principal advisor in the coordination of all field activities.
Represents the Area in administrative liaison with other agencies, federal, state, community, Native American Tribes, and professional organizations regarding Area programs.
Analyzes the medical and administrative management of programs and recommends indicated policy or procedural changes jointly with the Area Chief Medical Officer.
Ensures compliance with standards and goals for all programs promulgated by the Agency such as Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals, Det Norske Veritas, or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Qualifications

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Oversees the operation of a comprehensive health care program and has delegation of authority for the executive management of the operations; serves as a principal staff advisor and coordinator on all executive and program activities involved in the delivery of health services.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
