About the Position: This position is located at Scott AFB IL. Serves as a Traffic Management Specialist in the Domestic Operations Branch, Movement Operations Division, G3 Directorate. The Division serves a worldwide mission as the Command's customer representative for issues related to transportation and distribution services via all modes of transportation.
Duties
Serve as a liaison and focal point with a wide range of organizations to support SDDC's customers' requirements for rail transportation and distribution service.
Responsible for the traffic management of government equipment and supplies, including explosives, DoD special project shipments, unit movements and exercise moving on a worldwide basis in the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
Monitors, analyzes and evaluates shipper and carrier performance.
Meets with rail carrier representatives at SDDC commercial conferences, seminars, and command facilities.
Develops solutions for a wide variety of problems, and formulates policies and procedures to accomplish the mission efficiently and cost effectively.
Conducts studies to determine transportation industry capabilities under various emergency conditions and their ability to perform under such conditions.
Serves as one of the G3s rail technical advisors for freight movements.
Requirements
- The incumbent may be required to work nonstandard duty hours (e.g., shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime-both scheduled and unscheduled.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
Moving of defense cargo and forces through rail operations.
Performing as a technical advisor for rail freight movements.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
