This PUBLIC NOTICE for IT Specialist (INFOSEC) (NCWF Security) (DIRECT HIRE) position is located in the office of Information Technology, Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Division (IAD), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the Computer Network Defense - Incident Responder, performing incident triage, investigates/analyzes/manages response activities relating to cyber incidents.
Utilizes network security tools (i.e. firewalls, multiple audits logs, network access control, security system/web servers to detect network intrusion and malicious actions. Assess security events to determine impact, develop and execute corrective action plans, and make recommendations to management for corrective solutions.
Performs timeline analysis, static media analysis, file system forensic analysis, and write computer network defense (CND) guidance and reports on incident findings to appropriate constituencies.
Make recommendations and/or final decisions and takes actions which have a direct and substantial effect on the organization's programs managed. Prepare and present briefings to senior management officials on complex/controversial issues.
Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-J Pay Band (equivalent to GS-14), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV- I or GS-13 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience identifying, testing and implementing IT security/Cybersecurity tools, policies and practices to minimize risks and vulnerabilities, and to ensure the reliability and accessibility of IT systems; AND
Experienceauditing IT security systems to evaluate and maintain system compliance with IT security requirements; AND
Experience applying project management principles and practices to lead and carry out major IT projects (e.g., establishing priorities, developing plans and schedules, resource requirements, contract management, etc.).
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
