This position is located within the Radiology Service at the VA Durham Healthcare System, in Durham, North Carolina. The Program Support Assistant is assigned to the Office of the Chief, Radiology Service. The Program Support Assistant coordinates, understands, and manages the office activities of Radiology Service, under the direction of the Administrative Officer and Chief of Radiology, to meet the administrative needs of the Service.
Duties
Administrative Support
Administrative responsibilities include monitoring and coordinating the programs and services offered to all Health Care System Clinical Services including but not limited to Medicine; Surgery; Neurology; Radiation Oncology; Dental; Dermatology; Nuclear Medicine; NTP; Tele-Health Services; CBOCs; and outpatient clinics. The Program Support Assistant performs a wide variety of administrative assignments for Radiology Service.
Prioritizes the workload to meet the demands of the administrative operations of this complex Service and exhibits independence and initiative in completing duties.
Manages daily timekeeping (VATAS) for all radiology staff including administrative staff, technologists, physicians, and nurse practitioners. Includes overtime, compensation time, differential pay, premium pay, and corrections.
Reviews, monitors, and analyzes such areas as proposed changes in policy, operating procedures, and delegations of authority affecting clinical or program operations.
Develops written reports resulting from studies and surveys on behalf of Service to identify improvements in process and quality of operations and services offered.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Management, import, and analysis of data including department workload, efficiency, productivity, policy, and procedure.
Manages and coordinates the completion of daily imaging order scrubbing actions including but not limited to entry of appointment no-shows, order discontinuation, and assuring proper reporting and documentation posted timely by clinical staff.
Procurement Administration and Technical Support
Management and acquisition activities include preparing procurement requests and purchase orders based on recommendations from Service leadership.
Requests quotes and justifications from Leadership for procurement.
Prepares orders for supplies, non-expendable property such as personal computer hardware and software, and other specialized equipment necessary to fully support the functions of the Service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support and assisting with the day-to-day activities; creating agendas and writing committee minutes; preparing correspondence and reports; utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and maintaining records.

Physical Requirements: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office and may require occasional travel.
