This position is located in the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service (PLMS), of the Northport, NY Veteran Affairs Medical Center reporting to the Laboratory Manager.
Duties

NOTE: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-11. At the GS-09 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates implementation and expansion of mailed Fecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT) program.
Provides substantial input and support to ensure the Northport PMLS FIT Program follows VA Central Office and VISN requirements.
Serves as the Talent Management System (TMS) Coordinator for PLMS, ensuring training needs are met.
Develops and maintains computerized information and provides outputs and interpretation to appropriate staff.
Conducts purchase card audits and reporting results to the Laboratory Manager.
Assists the PLMS Manager and Supervisors in preparing all requests for contracting.
Maintains budget control records and ensures funds are used in accordance with the operating budget and applicable regulations and policies.
Assists in the budget planning process for the various sections of PMLS.
Conducts equipment inventory and advises section heads and technologists on the requirement and procedures for acquisition, repair, and disposal of equipment.
Serves as the Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for PMLS.
Works in conjunction with the Medical Center Credentialing and Privileging Office and the service's providers for distribution of credentialing packets and to ensure credentialing is completed within the allotted timeframe.
Manages document control program ensuring all policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are effectively managed, consistent in design, reviewed and appropriately distributed.
Works with supervisors to ensure the chemical inventories are conducted and reported twice per year, per regulatory and VA requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am until 3:30 pm.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, you must meet one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the Administrative Officer position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience consists of experience associated with budget/fiscal management, human resources management, management analysis, office support services; prepares routine reports; knowledge and/or experience in human resource functions such as staffing recommendation, position reviews, performance rating process, etc.; assists with the management of a budget for a unit/section of an organization; monitors funds; knowledge of and/or experience with analyzing and evaluating techniques to determine the impact on administrative processes. EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's degree or two (2) full years of graduate level education leading to such a degree in a related field of study that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed progressively higher-level graduate education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. EDUCATION: Successful completion three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) related to this position.
