Duties

DUTIES: Coordinate and communicate with multiple System Program Offices to inform all aspects of EMP testing activities with relevant survivability analyses, data collection survey findings, and mitigation strategies. Support the standardization of EMP test plans/reports. Analyze test data & create findings report. Recommendation of equipment upgrades and/or test protocol modification based on hardness data analytics. Create and maintain a configuration control database that tracks all platform tested, test points that were run and the findings. Contribute to current and future policy and guidance development. SKILLS: Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multiple teams. Familiarity with general Radiofrequency (RF) Testing. Candidates should have a strong background in nuclear weapons effects (to include EMP effects and standards), E3 (electromagnetic environmental effects), EMC/EMI (electromagnetic compatibility/electromagnetic interference), test plan/report development, data analysis, model development, database maintenance with strong ability to gather, assemble, analyze and interpret data and results to provide support to decision makers. Experience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation is also desired. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in working effectively with multiple DoD, academic and private industry organizations. Operational aircraft and EMP knowledge and/or experience is highly desired. Ability to travel for test execution and planning. Experience using principles of systems engineering and data analytics to execute survivability and effectiveness assessments of complex systems. Knowledge of system EMP military standards and governing documents (MIL-STD-3023, MILSTD-2169, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-464). Highly desired: 3-5 years of engineering or scientific discipline in the following areas: Electrical Engineer, Test Engineer, EMC/EMI Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, Physicist, Nuclear Engineer, Operational Research and/or Mathematics/Statistics.

  • Must be TS/SCI eligible.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • This is an Air Force Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This position will be coded under the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Level certification.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary scientific, technical and engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services. 2. Knowledge of technical and scientific methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. 3. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to acquisition, modification, production, sustainment, and logistics principles, concepts, policies, and systems. Knowledge of asset management principles, DoD and AF concepts, theories, policies, directives, and procedures. 4. Knowledge of financial management principles and procedures, and public laws relative to assigned areas of expertise. Knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on the expenditures of funds. 5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.
