Duties

Assist and advise staff on procedural and administrative aspects of actions. Provide guidance on changes to administrative procedures and policies. Independently establish and maintain filing system/log of incoming and outgoing correspondence, TDY vouchers, travel requests, and performance evaluations. Remind deputies of appointments and brief and/or provide written material to be considered prior to scheduled meeting. Accomplish mission through use of database files, graphics programs, calendar software, word processing and electronic mail.

GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated databases, assisting in the preparation of briefings, and receiving visitors and/or telephone calls. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). GS-08 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining filing systems, reviewing incoming correspondence, and responding to administrative concerns and/or problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementManagement SupportOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
