This position serves as a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, Chief of Software Engineering, located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), National Security Division (NSD), in Washington, DC.
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and lead enterprise-wide software engineering efforts at NSD which develop, deliver, and support specialized IT systems and services by providing secure, modern applications that enhance the capabilities in performing the mission.

The duties and responsibilities for this Chief of Software Engineering position include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and lead enterprise-wide software engineering activity within NSD.
- Provide oversight, technical support and advice to employees assisting in developing specialized and unique application software, modifying existing web application services, and using high-level programming and database management systems languages.
- Serves as the NSD Subject Matter Expert (SME), supervising the software engineering portfolio of software applications utilized in direct support of NSD's mission.
- Oversee and manage all NSD internal and external web services.
- Develop policy, guidance, long-range plans and adopt innovative solutions to problems that have been resistant to solutions in the past or have newly emerged.
- Responsible for supporting the administration of the Software Engineering Team's budget, capital planning, requirements, and performance-based measurement of IT investments. Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for related contracts.
Requirements

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (APPSW) at (GS-2210-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies below:

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-14) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as providing administrative and technical oversight and responsibility for the work of a software engineering team (Budget, research, design, development, maintenance of systems, etc.) or applying advanced software theories, concepts and practices to accomplish business goals and priorities as well as customer needs (address changing technology, emerging security risks, information management needs of customers, resource availability etc.).
