This position is located in with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Assistant Commandant for C4IT (CG-6) in Washington, DC.

Duties

The incumbent of this position is a primary analytical technical expert responsible for assisting the C-6, CG-6D, and executive assistant in performing the mission and function of the mission and function of the CG-6 office.  Ensures task coordination within and between other CG headquarters directorates; coordinates responses to external level tasking and communication; coordinates responses to questions and answers to Congress, Office of Management and Budget (OBM), Department of Homeland Security (OHS) Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS) elements and outside new media; and variety of other activities associated with CG-6 Directorate business activities.

  • This position requires a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 Level: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized include: ·       Communicating with senior level management on program activities and facilitating responses to executive and staff level tasks and queries.  ·       Serving as a technical advisor and subject matter expert responsible for coordinating all written information coming into and leaving the directorate, while concurrently performing analysis and periodic evaluations of administrative and line program operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness to facilitate and inform executive decision making. ·       Coordinating schedules, deadlines, and methods of approach to ensure timely responses, resolve varied inquires, problems, and concerns for Directorate by organizing work and setting priorities and identifying short and long-range actions. ·       Analyzing data, identifying trends and conducting statistical and causal analysis to support continual system improvement. ·       Monitoring and evaluating operations using operational reports, information, workflow, and analytical techniques. THERE IS NO EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION AT THE GS-13 GRADE LEVEL. To qualify at the GS-14 Level: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized include: ·       Developing, reviewing written and verbal communication materials that present program and policies suitable for audiences such as industry, Congress, Department officials, and others. ·       Applying portfolio, program, and project management methods and concepts. ·      Providing guidance and assistance regarding civilian personnel administration/management of policies and processes.   ·      Analyzing operational plans and standard operating procedures to ensuring continuously updated and modified. ·     Analyzing long range program, planning and performance metrics or factors. ·    Developing and advising on internal communication efforts related to staff correspondence and strategic priorities.  THERE IS NO EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION AT THE GS-14 GRADE LEVEL. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
