This position is located in AmeriCorps State and National (ASN), Department of the Chief of Program Operations, in Washington, DC.
Duties
The Training Specialist creates, implements, administers, and evaluates training curricula and technical assistance activities for ASN audiences.
The incumbent will:
Develop and/or revise training curriculum, online courses, and technical assistance products, using a variety of training methodologies and software for grantees to assist them in managing quality programs that engage AmeriCorps members.
Conduct virtual training for internal and external audiences on a regular basis, using remote technology.
Collaborate with internal training teams and regional offices on the development of train-the-trainer content.
Identify resources needed to support training and technical activities.
Assist with the planning and coordination of training and technical assistance activities to include personnel, equipment, facilities, and other resource requirements.
Participate on a cross-functional team to plan, develop, and deliver the annual AmeriCorps Symposium.
Measure the effectiveness of training programs and conferences, including administrative policies and procedures, curricula, instructional methods and techniques, qualifications and effectiveness of vendors, adequacy and utilization of training aids and devices, facilities, equipment, and testing. Makes recommendations to adjust or enhance training content, quality, delivery, or methodology based on program evaluations.
Collaborate with training staff in other AmeriCorps departments to identify existing contracts with similar statements of work, ensure cost effectiveness, and avoid duplication of efforts when contracting for educational services.
Analyze existing AmeriCorps on-line educational resources to identify and recommend new or revised curricula.
Represent the program office with external audiences with respect to educational needs and initiatives, and functions as program office liaison with other internal staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education qualification requirement below:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-03 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes:
Consulting on training modality and design;
Developing and implementing training;
Coordinating, supporting, and facilitating virtual and in-person events; and
Performing training evaluation tasks, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of training to diverse audiences.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.
Education
Basic Qualifications Requirement:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
This job does have an education qualification requirement; education may not be substituted for Specialized Experience at this grade level.
