About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Community Relations Officer for U.S. Army Alaska at Fort Richardson, and Fort Wainwright Alaska. Responsible for drafting, coordinating, staffing and distributing community relations requests for active duty Army support across the state.
Duties
Will develop the command's community relations plan as outlined in AR 360-1 and coordinate implementation with U.S. Army Garrison Alaska PAO.
Acts as USARAK command information officer and community relations liaison
Accesses community surveys for Anchorage and Fairbanks. Analyzes data; identifies community attitudes, problems, opportunities and demographic makeup.
Initiates, plans and coordinates Army participation in major community events.
Performs administrative duties to include serving as the PAO budget officer, responsible for overseeing the public affairs office IMPAC card program, including reconciling statements.

- This position may require some TDY travel ? approximately 25%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing written material for use in formal briefings and/or news publications; utilizing automated software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite) to manage and maintain public affairs information, engaging with community groups, state and local governments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
