About the Position: This position is for a Government Information Specialist for the Army Contracting Command located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. Incumbent will serve as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Program Officer for Army Contracting Command - Redstone Arsenal Contracting center.

Duties

Analyze requests for Army information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Determine whether FOIA exemptions to compulsory disclosure will address program concerns about release, entirely, or in part. Recommend granting or deny official requests to obtain information from agency records and automated systems. Serve as subject matter expert contact point in agency in responding to members of Congress, the public, the media, other agencies, and employees and official of agency. Develop/implement agency procedural guidance for interpretation and execution of information access laws and regulations regarding FOIA and For Official use Only (FOUO). Provide technical/administrative oversight of FOIA action officers engaged in processing requests concerning documents, actions, policies, procedures, and database entries.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
