This position is located in the Forest Service Region 5 Regional Office in Vallejo, CA.
This position assists the Regional Forester and Deputy Regional Forester by serving as a focal point and liaison for administrative issues.

Duties
Implement administrative processes in response to new and changing program requirements and/or other developments
Participate in Leadership Team meetings and conferences by identifying and tracking topics requiring discussion and
decision.
Follow administrative procedures of functions such as incoming/outgoing correspondence, records management and/or publications/forms management in support of an organization.
Conduct studies/analyses of a business process, function or organizational component to develop recommendations to solve problems or improve administrative functions.
Work collaboratively with others to accomplish shared organizational goals.
Use customer feedback data to plan, provide, and/or improve products and/or services.
Participate in staff and/or management level meetings and discussions involving administrative and management functions of an office.
Interpret established and pertinent regulations, organizational policies, management principles, and administrative rules.
Prepare confidential and/or personal correspondence for leadership for use at strategic planning meetings.
Assist senior personnel in the preparation of draft or final written documents to communicate ideas, goals, policies, analysis, and/or direction.
Assist in the development of written administrative policies and procedures for implementation.
Screen incoming mail including correspondence, directives and publications to determine and perform
necessary action.
Requirements

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the 09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Identified, analyzed, and coordinated the integration of data into correspondence, reports, and presentations to improve administrative functions; and/or coordinated services between stakeholders in ensuring cross-functional support activities and initiatives are carried out; and/or conducted analytical studies of processes, operations, services to assist with the evaluation of program effectiveness; and/or provided personal executive assistance on confidential and controversial administrative matters.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
