Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), you will use your knowledge of and experience with The Office of the Chief Information Officer to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Managing, planning, directing and executing all organization operations and providing administrative and technical oversight to a subordinate staff.
Providing advice and counsel to employees, interviewing and selecting candidates for positions within the organization, making promotions and reassignments, hearing and resolving complaints from employees, and initiating disciplinary action if required.
Planning, directing, organizing and coordinating activities to increase the baseline cybersecurity posture across the organization, and maintaining the ability to provide mission critical services while protecting systems and the public's personal information in the interest of privacy.
Providing authoritative advice and guidance to senior Department officials and across the organization regarding information cybersecurity support programs and initiatives aimed at identifying and safeguarding systems against new vulnerabilities or involving information security.
Establishing strategic plans and technical guidance into objectives, strategies, and architectural guidance to support IT cybersecurity services for the organization.
Acquiring and managing necessary resources, including leadership support, financial resources, and key security personnel to support information technology security goals, and reduce overall organizational risks.
Providing accountability and responsibility for internal management controls that include development, documentation, and operation of both internal processes and administrative controls. Reviewing and analyzing existing processes and making recommendations to senior management for improvements in new workflows and revised business models.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies:

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND
Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that includes performing at least three (3) of the following:
1. Managing or overseeing technical projects related to the procurement, deployment and implementation of IT infrastructure Network and Application Systems, Federal Information Security Management Act and Information System Security.
2. Providing advice and guidance pertinent to Cybersecurity or Network Operations program policies, guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) developing performance metrics and continuous process improvement efforts.
3. Providing authoritative guidance to Senior Department officials and across the organization regarding methods for improving the development and implementation of IT security or network operations management.
4. Isolating and defining unprecedented conditions, resolving critical problems, and developing testing new technologies.
5. Directing the day-to-day work of the either a Security Operations or Network Operations Center.
