Duties
Serves as a Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Chief) with supervisory responsibility for employees carrying out Physical Security, Antiterrorism, Force Protection, Intelligence, and Emergency Planning programs.
Implements assigned Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) security programs ensuring all actions taken are in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provides command officials with advice, assistance, and support pertaining to assigned programs.
Assists in key investigations with various federal law enforcement agencies to ensure that criminal cases involving DLA employees and DLA resources are effectively prosecuted.
Analyzes requirements and prepares procedures to counter risk vulnerabilities.
Provides leadership and management oversight to the Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Officer; Serves as the technical advisor to support activities AT/FP and physical security measures.
Provides management and leadership oversight to the Installation Emergency Management Program Action Officer.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Developing and implementing policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.
Developing, evaluating and/or operating systems, procedures and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials.
Developing and maintaining the physical means which are used for protection and security.
Preparing comprehensive instructional materials, plans, organizing and conducting training to personnel on security matters.
Preparing and submitting physical security surveys and inspections and reporting findings to higher-level executives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
