This position is located at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), Patient Business Services. Incumbent provides registration and eligibility services which are the key point of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, Purchased Referred Care (PRC) and private/commercial insurance. Serves as first line work leader for three or more contact representatives. Position is located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Duties
Serves as first line work leader for Contact Representatives in the Patient Registration section.
Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day- to- day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly.
Assists patients in screening for potential eligibility for services and by providing education on alternate resources and interpretation of rules and regulations of the agency and/or federal and state entities.
Maintains, key enter, updates and verifies all alternate resources data necessary for patient registration and for accurate billing through the use of the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS).
Interviews patients to obtain information to initiate a new health record and/or reactivates a retired/stored record. Enters all information into the RPMS and prints appropriate forms for filing.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0962-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Served as an advocate for patients regarding eligibility requirements of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Social Security Supplemental Income (SSI), State Medicaid Programs, etc. Assist patients by interviewing, explaining, and collecting data for alternate resource applications and follow up on pending or denial of claims. Provides continuous research and advocates on behalf of patients regarding current health care laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
