Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing administrative functions in support of the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Texas in the Corpus Christi Branch Office.
As an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) you will:
- serve as the information receptionist;
- receive telephone calls and visitors to the office;
- conduct inventories of supplies and equipment;
- review hand receipts;
- submit purchase requests;
- enter information into a database and/or spreadsheet;
- receive, route, distribute, and control packages, mail, and other forms of written communication;
- produce a variety of written documents using various office automation software;
- transmit time and attendance records;
- and assist with special projects.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
GS-6: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
Specialized Experience: Performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office to include assisting in maintaining property inventory; preparing new employee orientation and exit packages, serving as back-up purchase card holder; making travel arrangements; and assisting with troubleshooting routine information technology issues.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
