Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support operations. Automated support is necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop, and manage exhibits, evidence, or other data relevant to cases presented before a jury, grand jury or in other legal proceedings. Typical work assignment will include: - Providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation options, systems capabilities, and support services available to aid in document review, case preparation, trial preparation and trial presentation. - Recommending a variety of software packages including eDiscovery document review databases that would be most effective for organizing and managing information, documents and/or the presentation of complex and voluminous evidence - Providing litigation support services, including processing, hosting and producing eDiscovery and trial preparation and presentations in response to customer needs. - Providing customer training including orientation for new users on eDiscovery and multimedia (video and presentation graphics) software tools. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Requirement: Information Technology (IT)-related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Note: This basic requirement does not apply to applicants who meet the requirements for substituting education for experience at the GS-09 or GS-11 as outlined below. Specialized Experience: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 9 level in Federal service, which is in or related to work in the Information Technology (IT) field and demonstrates possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail; Customer Service; Oral Communications; and Problem Solving. Specialized experience includes performing the following types of duties: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and support on a variety of routine eDiscovery and multimedia (video and presentation graphics) applications; trial preparation, graphics, and presentation; and developing and managing Litigation Support systems that meet current and future needs; preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, word processing, mapping, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications. Diagnosing and resolving litigation support computer system hardware and software problems; and performing organization-wide account maintenance and software/hardware updates. OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the doctoral level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
