About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant file custodian for all non-Personnel Services Delivery Redesign (non-PSDR) units providing assistance to Officer and Enlisted Records and as Site Security Manager (SSM) for the DEERS section under the Military Personnel Division.

Duties

Provides assistance on the application and workflows on updating a member?s record using the Personnel Action Request (PAR) for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A). Provides update assistance for Officer and Enlisted Soldier Talent Profile (STP) under IPPS-A Processing the promotion packets and board results for the semi-centralized promotions for all non-PSDR units. Assist with Military Awards Program in accordance with regulations, policies, and guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain the Site Security Manager (SSM) certification within 3 months of employment
  • May be required to work flexible work schedules, to include weekends, and extended hours at peak loads, depending on availability of manpower and processing time requirements.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting with the processing and compliance of military awards; Maintaining human resource system database and reports and Providing human resource customer service to internal and external customers in a timely manner. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCommunicationsCustomer ServiceManages and Organizes InformationReportingWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
