Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 30 Sep 2023 by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 30 Sep 2023, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

Duties

Research records and counsel service members and dependents to determine eligibility for various allowances (travel and entitlements). Interpret data for resolution of complex problems, make accurate evaluations and recommendations, prepare written reports to higher authority. Operates a variety of electronic systems comprised of hardware and software components ( e.g. EDAS, TOPMISS II, E-MILPO, ISMs, iPERMS) Counsel on applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures in related to concerning retirement benefits, disability, and other types of employee benefits programs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 months

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) reviewing military personnel records to determine propriety with relation to actions requested 2) utilizing personal computer to prepare correspondence 3) researching and/or providing information regarding applicable rules, regulations and procedures 4) performs military personnel transactions such as; assignments, reassignments, details, transfers, PCS ravel orders This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailCommunicationsComputer LiteracyEmployee Compensation and Benefits Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
