This position is located in the Management Directorate, Office of Chief Information Officer, Enterprise Infrastructure Division. As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Information Security), you will direct a program that ensures the holistic integration of IT security into all aspects of the system lifecycle and USCIS mission requirements and protects the infrastructure vital to the mission.

Duties

Responsible for the research, design, and integration of IT programs and services, and developing IT solutions that meet current and future business requirements. Manage assigned projects for the Network Engineering team and communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel. Prepare and present briefings to senior management officials on complex/ controversial issues. Identify required IT network and systems changes based on new security technologies or threats. Lead or support acquisition activities to include market research, independent government cost estimates (IGCE), requirements document development, justifications, and technical evaluations, etc., as well as post-award contract management. Provide Cybersecurity advice to managers and regularly represent USCIS OIT in meetings and discussions with representatives of advisory committees to resolve Cybersecurity problems.

This announcement is issued under the Direct Hire Authority to recruit for positions for which the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, has a critical hiring need. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing direction and coordination for technical support for enterprise IT network infrastructure components, technology transitions and migrations. Managing the evaluation and implementation of IT network devices and IT enterprise monitoring of multiple environments with agency-wide impact, to include the development, test, training, production, and disaster recovery phases. Overseeing the development and interpretation of policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services. Providing technical advice, guidance, and engineering solutions and recommendations to management regarding critical IT issues with agency-wide impact.
