As a Physical Security Specialist, you will be responsible for issuing document certifications, identification badges, and credentials to maintain and operate the automated access control systems for all of DOJ components and in corporation of working with outside federal agencies in executing and exercising the authority of the Attorney General and Department Security Officer in implementing the security regulations prescribed by laws and Executive Orders.

As a Physical Security Specialist, you may be responsible for: Issuing document certifications, identification badges, and credentials. Serving as a sponsor for an Personal Identity Verification system. Overseeing the daily operations of a Identification office. Serving as a Contract Office Representative to support ID office and other contracts. Resolving issues or threats that impact access to secured locations or items. Developing policies, procedures, or instructions on Personal Identity.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
  • You must meet all eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement and continue to meet these requirements throughout the hiring process. Offers can be rescinded if requirements are not met.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Physical Security Specialist, (GS-0080-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. For the GS-13 Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Maintaining or operating an automated access control system program; Assisting in developing policies for Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM); AND Advising senior management on new developments or advances in physical security. You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/15/2023. Your resume must support your responses to the questionnaire and qualification requirements.
