This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Census and Survey Division (CSD) located in Washington, DC.
In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating all the clerical and administrative work done within the office unit, ensuring that work is accomplished.
Duties
Manage and coordinate the administrative and clerical work of the office.
Secure accommodations and necessary authorizations, preparing post travel correspondence, vouchers, reports, and visas if required.
Establish and maintain a system of files for the office, ensuring that all pertinent items are properly filed.
Represent the office on committees and task forces convened to address varied administrative issues.
Answer all administrative inquiries and answers some inquiries requiring a little technical knowledge of the work of the agency.
Use word processing equipment and associated software packages.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-08 grade level for consideration for the GS-09 grade level).
Specialized Experience
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-09 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-08 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience composing correspondence utilizing Microsoft Office applications; locating and summarizing information from files and documents in anticipation of supervisor's needs; and providing administration support for the operation of an office.
Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute
