About the Position: This position is located with Headquarters 4th Infantry Division, Tactical Safety, Fort Carson, Colorado. Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Duties

Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating and supervising the Safety Program. Provide interpretations and guidance concerning the application of safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Conducts compliance inspections and surveys of the workplace, ranges, organizations, operations, facilities and equipment to identify systemic safety and health related deficiencies. Assesses the effectiveness of the Safety Program to identify strengths and weaknesses and develops methods and techniques to improve operational and systemic deficiencies. Deploys with and develops Area of Operations safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with host nation/foreign military personnel and civilians when in a deployed status, and to accommodate situations unique to this location.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Secret security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing during employment.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position, you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an official government passport.
  • Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid stateside driver?s license.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle drivers license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
  • Position is designated as Emergency Essential. Emergency essential employees must be exempted from military mobilization or recall obligations by being placed in the Standby Reserve. Anthrax inoculation program participation may be required.
  • Incumbent will be required to DEPLOY (world-wide) with assigned/attached units for periods up 365 days. Incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive up-to-date required immunization for the overseas or deployed location.
  • The military ACU is the duty uniform (when deployed, or in field environments). Incumbent will be issued standard TA-50 for use per local requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform TDY up to 50% of the time on an annual basis.
  • Incumbent is exposed on a regular and recurring basis to machines and equipment in operation, hazardous materials including compressed gases and flammable liquids, and construction hazards.
  • Incumbent must frequently work outdoors with temperature extremes. Exposure to dust, high noise levels, wind, sand, and environments of fumes and smoke are encountered.
  • Exposure to elements associated in combat and contingency operations in CONUS and OCONUS locations. Employee may be required to perform work requiring chemical protective masks and protective clothing.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain standard Army Safety Program certification. Continuous education and training in a tactical field environment is required.
  • Incumbent must be able to meet weapons qualifications requirements.
  • This position has been designated a Testing Designated Position and is therefore covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program which requires random drug urinalysis testing. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R.
  • Achieve the CP-12 Level I and Explosives Safety Level 1 professional certificates within 12 months or prior to deployment.
