About the Position: Serves as Safety and Occupational Health Specialist at 4th SFAB, Ft. Carson, CO.
Position may be filled as a term appointment Not-To-Exceed (2) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

Duties
Plans and conducts safety education activities.
Trains supervisors and employees in proper use, limitations, care, and maintenance of respirators to include leak tests before each use.
Provides guidance, instruction, and advice to leadership on interpretation of regulations/standards to achieve sound program objectives.
Conducts studies of accident causal factors to identify predictive trend analysis to devise effective methods to mitigate safety hazards.
Provides policy oversight, training, and consultation services to leaders.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the selectee be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
- This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential" and is subject to deployment. May require employee to perform mission requirements in hostile environments.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle drivers license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- This position has a TDY requirement of up to 25% of the time or less.
- This position may require the selectee to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission
- This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.
- Work involves frequent visits and temporary duty in CONUS and OCONUS field sites as well as deployment and participation in military exercises in a variety of environments.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the employer.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Conducting accident investigations to determine and analyze contributing factors; AND (2) Formulating risk management assessments for an organization; AND (3) Performing inspections to ensure regulatory compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
