This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA).
Post-Secondary Students are TERM appointments NTE 4 yrs in the competitive service. Students may be non-competitively converted to a career or career-conditional appointment upon successful completion of an academic program; complete 640 hours of continuous employment; meet OPM qualifications for the position; and meet time-in-grade requirements.
This position is inside the bargaining unit.
Duties

Takes notes, notes milestones and deadlines, and keeps track of goals and objectives, associated products, services, and deliverables.
Attends and participates in workgroups.
Proofreads documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Under the guidance of a higher-graded coworker or supervisor, performs basic evaluation, computations, calculations, and statistical analyses on management data concerning achieving organization goals, objectives, and progress toward fulfilling strategic plans.
Tracks and monitors incoming digital correspondence and telephone inquiries. Notes, records, tracks, monitors items, and triages email to the intended recipient(s).
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary background/investigation level.
- Must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment at least half-time.
- Upon completion of requirements for graduation and successful completion of the PSS program requirements, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion, at the agency's discretion, to a career or career-conditional appointment.
- The entire duration of the Post-Secondary Student appointment constitutes a trial period.
Qualifications
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
Applicants for this position must meet the definition of a CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENT as outlined throughout this announcement. If you do not meet this definition, you will not be considered.
Applicants who graduate from their degree seeking programs in Spring 2023 can be considered for the Post-Secondary Student Authority only if they are enrolled and/or accepted for enrollment in the Summer 2023 or Fall 2023 semester in a proceeding degree seeking program. If you do not provide proof of summer or fall enrollment, you will not be considered.
To be eligible for the DOL Post-Secondary Student Authority, an individual must be enrolled and seeking a degree from a qualifying educational institution/program on a full or half-time basis for the current SUMMER 2023 semester. Additional proof of enrollment for the upcoming FALL 2023 semester will be required before a final job offer can be extended. TRANSCRIPTS or other applicable education documents (e.g. acceptance letter) are required at the time of application to verify program eligibility.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study above high school. (Equivalent to 60 Semester Hours)
Transcripts/Enrollment documents submitted at time of application MUST include:
Unofficial Transcripts must state the student's name, name of the school, current GPA/academic standing, past and current coursework with credits for each course, enrollment status, degree program, and proof of enrollment for the FALL 2023 semester.
If your school's transcripts, letter of acceptance, or other documentation does not provide all the necessary information listed above, you should include additional official academic documentation that meets the requirements.
If you are a graduate level student, you should also submit your undergrad transcripts with your application.
If you do not submit a transcript indicating your possession of the required education, you will not be considered for this position.
