Job opening: Student Trainee (Management Analyst)

Salary: $42 870 - 55 736 per year

This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Management Analyst), you will: Under the supervision and guidance of a higher graded specialist, assists with the planning and conduct of program reviews or administrative process studies. Provide assistance and analytical support to staff in a variety of matters relating to new procedures and policies related to assigned program area(s). Perform work as a part of a team in conducting and performing analysis and advisory assignments related to the effectiveness of programs and or the efficiency of the management of operations intended to provide the incumbent with a good working knowledge of Department programs, policy, regulations, and implementing legislation. Provide technical assistance and support to management staff in a variety of matters relating to planning systems and management programs to meet mission requirements by providing analytical support on problem definitions, planning methods, policies, procedures, and evaluating program information.

Qualifications

You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-05 grade level, you must meet the following requirements: Specialized Experience - You may qualify with one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Using computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets to perform automated tasks.; AND - Reviewing outgoing correspondence or reports for format, grammar, and typographical accuracy. OR Education: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination: You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. (For example: the completion of 50% requirements for a Bachelors degree and 6 months of specialized experience.) Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Education

Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:

A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.

B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship.

C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
