Two of these positions will be located in Yosemite Valley and two in Wawona District of Yosemite National Park, in the Buildings and Grounds Branch of the Facility Management Division.

Duties
Perform recurring building/structure maintenance and operation duties utilizing journey level knowledge and skills in a variety of trades. Duties require competence and working knowledge of accepted practices of the applicable trade and craft areas. Must be able to work with and care for common power and hand tools as well as materials associated with these trades. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Carpentry - performs repairs to buildings and quarters. Constructs, installs, repairs and replaces items such as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets.
Painting - applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers. Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces, and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.
Plumbing - replacing hose bibs, valves, nipples, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flush valves, faucets, and various other types of pipe and copper lines.
Roofing - patches and repairs roofs consisting of built up tar and paper, metal, as well as foam roofs and asphalt shingles.
Electrical - making minor repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, and insulating defective wiring and fixtures.
Cement Finishing - builds and sets forms on projects such as sidewalks and steps. Mix pour, spread and level cement and concrete in preparation for final finishing.
Masonry - maintenance, repair, construction, and/or stabilization of historic sites built of stone, mortar, or adobe and/or contemporary buildings, features of structures. Masonry work is of limited difficulty.
Custodial/Laborer - Performs custodial duties of cleaning buildings, offices and comfort stations, empties trash, and cleans and waxes a variety of floors.
Motor Vehicle - Operates and performs operator maintenance on cars, trucks, and/or van and stake trucks. Utilizes motor vehicles to pick up supplies and transport materials to and from work sites. May operate a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment in a variety of situations.
Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position. Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000-foot-high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno. Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal. The park is open year-round with the majority of activities occurring during the busy season March through October.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker WG-4749-07 without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
This includes work experience performing the following maintenance duties in at least 2 of the following trades: carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, roofing, cement finishing, and masonry. Selected tools and materials, choose methods and techniques to use, and carried out work independently. Does not need any technical assistance to perform most tasks. Able to troubleshoot more complex problems and take initiative to solve problems and accomplish work assignments safely, without more than normal supervision. Possesses knowledge of a variety of trade terminology, tools, and equipment.
