Duties

You will conduct vulnerability and risk analysis to assess vulnerabilities of Defense Critical Infrastructure (DCI), Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS), Operational Technology (OT), information systems, and information infrastructure. You will conduct cyber network and system penetration tests (aka penetration test/pen test/pentest) and exploitation technical support. You will provide operational and technical computer security support. You will develop recommendation to inform the sported customers of the vulnerabilities identified.

  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

You must have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the four competencies above your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of programming language structures and logic to include interpreted and compiled computer languages and in-depth knowledge of penetration testing doctrine sufficient to perform assessment functions and establish ad hoc planning teams or working groups to assist in the accomplishment of the mission; 2) Applying advanced knowledge of system and application security threats and vulnerabilities (e.g. buffer overflows, cross-site scripting, Structured Query Language (SQL) and injections, race conditions, covert channel, replay, malicious code); and 3) Analyzing a variety of network attacks (e.g. passive, active, insider, near-sider) to determine its relationship to both threats and vulnerabilities.
