About the Position: This Supervisory Biologist (GS-0401-14) position is located in the Army Public Health Center, Toxicology Directorate, at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Duties
Plan organizational structure and staffing needs. Promotes position management principles and programs. Exercises line authority over the subordinates in grades up to the GS-14 level.
Assures compliance with safety and security regulations.
Interprets validity, approaches, results, and soundness of conclusions.
Acts as primary subject matter expert in occupational toxicology (inhalation, dermal, and ocular toxicology).
Analyzes toxicity data, recommending ways to mitigate their effects. Oversees the performance of in vivo (animal) and in vitro (non-animal) testing, evaluating toxicities; toxicological screening; and conducts exposure-specific testing.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Biologist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Conduct multidisciplinary research, studies and experiments including in vitro (non-animal) and in vivo (animal) toxicological methods to provide occupational health initiatives or occupational and industrial toxicology services to include knowledge needed to successfully conduct inhalation studies in animals; 2) Identify chemical hazards associated inhalation exposures to particulates, vapors and fumes (e.g., smokes, combustion products); 3) Perform and review hazard assessments from toxicological data to assess probability of adverse effects from use of weapon systems and platforms; 4) Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of Good Laboratory Practices requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-13.
Education
