Duties
Serves as an expert analyst responsible for providing technical and management support to DLA Operational Technology (OT) / Facilities Related Control Systems (FRCS) programs and systems within the Security Pillar.
Ensures electronic security systems (ESS) deployed at DLA locations enterprise wide are optimized to provide physical protection.
Provides program oversite and guidance to security specialists across DLA and others in the day-to-day program management.
Represents Security and Emergency Services (SF-S) at pertinent DM, J61, J62, and DLA Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and planning groups. Acts in the absence of the Operational Technology (OT) Program Manager.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Physical Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience include.
Serving as the functional expert for the development, coordination, implementation, management, and oversight of Electronic Security System (ESS) aspects of physical security planning, operations, and deployment.
Directing, coordinating, analyzing, and identifying innovative techniques, methods, procedures, and approaches to safeguard, eliminate, or control the impact of adversary attacks.
Providing expert advice, guidance, assessment, direction, and technical support to personnel in all matters related to security.
Developing budgets and funding requirements in support of security, including staffing, training, assessments, and surveys.
Serving as a point of contact for internal and external organizations involving activities related to security.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
