The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 19 AF Maintenance Training Center.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 19 AF, ensuring that Maintenance Training Center complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents 19 AF/A4PR with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels.
Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Supervising Training Instructors who instruct in initial skills, advanced, and/or supplemental Technical Training courses utilizing approved curriculum instructions in support of the Aircraft Maintenance career fields. Also, serve as Training Instructor for crew chief requirements, performing all classroom-related activities along with supporting course curriculum and development/revision efforts. The Training Instructor work supervised includes teaching broad courses in the fundamentals and skills of a technical occupation in a military environment or a wide variety of topics in well-established areas of assigned subject matter(s). The work is performed independently within a prescribed course framework and includes making recommendations on course modifications. The work requires varied duties that relate to well established aspects of instructional duties and responsibilities.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional instructional systems design principles, techniques, practices, and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and training system production management principles, concepts, and policies and of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
4. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
5. Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance with a specialty in crew chief principles at a practical level to include procedures, aircraft system theory, common test equipment, common tool usage, Air Force Technical Orders (AFTOs), automated maintenance management systems, safety, security, and management and maintenance directives.
6. Knowledge of the principles and techniques required to evaluate instructional programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
