Incumbent will work under the supervision of an Army Community Service (ACS) Manager who outlines objectives, provides general policy guidance, and advises incumbent of new or changed responsibilities. Independently performs duties and makes assessments referring to an Army Community Service or community service specialist, as appropriate to the situation. Refers only those issues involving significant deviation from general procedures.
Duties
Provides a full range of relocation services, information and assistance to military personnel and their families who are in a PCS move.
Interviews, counsels, and advises individuals and families on all facet of the relocation process
Develops procedures for comprehensive in-processing and orientation of Soldiers arriving in the Military community.
Adhere to established headquarters client tracking/service usage procedures and requirements
Determining client needs or wants and/or assisting with acceptance that a problem exists
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Army Community Services Specialist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting one of the above requirements, you must also meet one of the below requirements:
Specialized experience is defined as: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service which includes: Performing broad management functions associated with family programs and services ; Developing procedures for in-processing and orientation of Soldiers arriving in the Military community. and Providing relocation services, information and assistance to military personnel and their families who are relocating.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
