To serve as a first level supervisor in the Range Control Squadron/Mission Support Section, providing planning, directing, organizing, mentoring, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the organization.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the organization, ensuring that professional, scientific and technical work complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Performs professional computer science work
Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Delivers presentations on program status to leadership, including, accomplishments, solutions, and future requirements for support
Participates in employee and labor management matters with senior HR professionals
Manages RNCS squadron IT support, networks, COMSEC, TEMPEST and cybersecurity to support Eglin test missions
Oversees/Supervises the operation and management of the Mission Support Section

- This position is Situational Telework Eligible (must reside in the local area) for UP TO a maximum of 80% of the time.
- Amount of telework time and telework schedule will be at the discretion of the Selecting Official and implemented after entrance on duty

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, click here.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is described as (a) professional competence in applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations; (b) specialized knowledge of the design characteristics, limitations, and potential applications of systems having the ability to transform information, and of broad areas of applications of computing which have common structures, processes, and techniques; and (c) knowledge of relevant mathematical and statistical sciences.
1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of
professional computer science, and knowledge of other technical disciplines to effectively apply computer
software, software systems and computer hardware architectural theories, principles, and concepts to areas of
responsibility.
2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations,
practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an
organization.
5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations
and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
Education
To qualify for this position, you must also meet the basic requirements listed below:
Basic Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
