About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Mission Integrator for the G3 Operations Directorate, Future Operations.As a Mission Integrator, the incumbent is responsible for developing the relationships needed to bring all parts of the Defense Transportation System (DTS) enterprise together to meet the needs of the Department of Defense (DOD).
Duties
Utilizes skills and abilities in the areas of oral and written communication in order to synthesize and summarize complete problem sets.
Assesses issues or problems that are complicated by conflicting or incomplete data, unusual transportation requirements that involve considerable analysis to support or the need to modify standard practices and techniques.
Works independently and is responsible for planning and carrying out the work, resolving conflict, integrating and coordinating the works with other functions and programs.
Develops guidelines, policies, and regulations pertaining to assigned area.
Applies a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of traffic management policies, principles and practices involved in the movement of defense cargo through the Defense Transportation System.
Applies an in-depth knowledge of transportation operations in order to plan and manage transportation programs for routine, surge, and special requirements for contingency and/or emergency support to five Combatant Commands worldwide.
Requirements
- May be required to work nonstandard duty hours.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 13 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 Months, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years, and may be made permanent without further competition.

To Qualify for the GS-12:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
Facilitating the movement of cargo through the Defense Transportation System.
Utilizing knowledge of guidelines and polices to support terminal operations.
Providing advisory service to resolve transportation problems to ensure timely movement of cargo.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
