Duties

You will plan, implement and oversee the Installation's Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). You will ensure appropriate substance abuse prevention education is available to the serviced population in coordination with tenant commanders, activity directors, and legal and medical agency as required. You will plan and develop local policies, procedures, and reporting requirements/ systems to effectively accomplish Prevention Program goals. You will evaluate all documentation related to drug testing/alcohol testing to confirm proper procedures. You will review charts and statistics for the ASAP drug testing program. You will oversee the ASAP, Risk Reduction Program (RRP) and Suicide Prevention Program (SPP).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
  • Must be able to pass a supervisory probationary period.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, etc. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience listed below. Specialized experience is defined as: developing, implementing, or coordinating a substance abuse prevention, risk reduction, or suicide prevention program; and promoting program awareness, and conducting briefings to commanders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingReasoningTechnical CompetenceWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
