This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and evolution of information software engineering methodology, techniques, and procedures to substantially improve the Joint Staff J7's information systems development process.

Duties
As a IT SPECIALIST (APPSW) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:Manages the systems design, development, planning and programming to include IT development, installation, test, and transition and support of fielded capabilities.
Leads a team of technical contractors engaged in the planning, development, engineering, production, installation, and test of assigned systems and development of technical capability.
Inputs, reviews, or develops policies, programs, regulations, and concepts designed to support Information Technology (IT) development.
Observes personnel, supplies, equipment, and facilities to ensure services and activities are carried out within acceptable levels.
Reviews software deliverables and analyzes software performance to continuously monitor QA/QC.
Monitors the design, architecting, development, documentation, delivery, in coordination with the Environment Operations Division's deployment and sustainment of technical solutions that support the Joint Training System.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Executing the life cycle of software development and programming, oversight of management techniques of information systems, software, and programs.
Facilitate software development activities within the branch which includes Agile development, Code Repositories, scripting and queries and Service Oriented Architecture, Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) and Web Service design and development.
Developing processes supporting Data Centric Application, Development / Security/ Operations (DevSecOps), and Continuous Development (CD)/Continuous Integration (CI).
Planning, preparing, and presenting management level briefings and presentations on development status and future plans to the user community of practice (CoP) and senior leadership.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
