About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command/ ARSTRAT, Technical Center Space & Strategic Systems Directorate, Space Division, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898.
Duties
Manages all aspects of Special Access Program (SAP) security programs including Personnel Security, Information Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security, Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA), etc.
Develops, integrates, coordinates, oversees, and synchronizes the requirements and activities for security program planning, protection, preparation, execution, and specialized security management.
Serves as the security point of contact for all security inspection and/or security investigations.
Provides technical and administrative supervision of assigned personnel.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY), both CONUS and OCONUS, will be required up to 25% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience in managing, planning, and executing of two or more of the following: Special Access Programs (SAPs), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Communications Security (COMSEC), in support of Special Access Programs (SAP) security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
