You will serve as a SUPERVISORY CHEMIST in the Petroleum Branch, Laboratory Division, Quality Assurance Daprtment of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will coordinate, progress, guide, and track direct Project support work conducted by the Petroleum and Coatings Branch to accomplish the work goals set out by the Division Head.
You will evaluate incoming jobs and assign actions of the work to be done.
You will determine job priorities for Branch personnel and assign and supervise work to ensure the satisfactory completion.
You will review and interpret requirements, provide technical and administrative direction, and guide and coach his/her personnel, as necessary, to help them complete their assignments correctly and on time.
You will communicate lessons learned to all personnel, as well as advising other cognizant technical codes.
You will review and assess Branch personnel performance, develop Branch budgets, training plans, and equipment procurement plans.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: professional chemistry experience managing or directing an industrial chemical laboratory including processes involving International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025, chemical reactions, chemical safety, and a quality system to improve Shipyard operations.

Education

- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physic
OR
- A combination of education and experience with course work equivalent to a major as shown above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education
