Duties
As a Inspector General (IG), you will perform duties to include but not limited to the following:
Assists the IG in all phases of the IG mission and responsibilities.
Provides technical advice and assistance to the Command and supported staff on all areas of the IG function.
Performs the full range of supervisory duties related to personnel management including developing performance standards, evaluating employee performance, and identifying and providing training.
Conducts special and/or complex inspections, investigations and inquiries involving high level commanders and sensitive issues.
In coordination with the IG develops the annual inspection plan, serves as primary lead on some inspections, advises inspectors in their inspection of specific areas and coordinates efforts of augmented inspectors.
Represents the IG at command staff briefings, meetings, and conferences with authority to establish or present the agency position.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
- Must successfully complete a three-week U.S. Army Inspector General Course within 90 days of employment for continued employment.
- Must take the Inspector General's oath of office.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Army Inspector General School Certification.
- Must re-certify as an Army Inspector General every five (5) years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Lead sensitive investigations, inquires, or special studies on allegations and complaints; 2) Conduct collection of sworn and unsworn testimony and evidence; and 3) Prepare detailed written reports to present development of information, evidence, or findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
**Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
Education
