Duties
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
The National Park Service retains the right to extend the duration of this appointment after selection and/or appointment, based on changes to the regulation governing the number of years term appointments may last. This change, which may be made at the agency's sole discretion and without further competition, shall not be construed or interpreted as the granting of a right to a selectee or employee to such an extension. No extension to a term appointment shall be granted to a selectee/employee to an amount of time that exceeds the maximum number of years authorized under any present or current regulation, unless such regulation expressly allows such action.

Biscayne National Park is located 30 miles south of Miami on the open waters of Biscayne Bay. Biscayne National Park is situated in a subtropical climate, which ensures sunshine year-round. Winters here are normally dry and mild, with occasional fronts bringing wind and rain. Summertime brings hot and humid weather with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoons and mosquitoes are often present. The Florida Keys and Homestead provide medical (including hospital), banking, groceries, and educational facilities. Miami provides all the educational, medical, sporting, and cultural features of a thriving multi-ethnic metropolitan area. The Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay lie at your doorstep to provide great swimming, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving opportunities.

MAJOR DUTIES
This position performs a variety of carpentry maintenance/repair related to deferred maintenance and facilities maintenance/repair. The incumbent is supervised by the WS-10 Maintenance Supervisor.
Repairs/restores structures throughout Biscayne national park.
Incumbent will be working on restoring multiple locations with weathered wood siding.
Performs installation and repair of plumbing lines, waste lines, plumbing fixtures, valve pumps, and controls. Sweats, glues, and joins a variety of materials together (copper, steel, aluminum, and PVC)
Constructs, fabricates, and/or repairs various facilities using lumber, cement block, and formed steel reinforced concrete. Installs and repairs doors, windows, siding, flooring, sheetrock, and other finish materials.
Operates motor vehicles, forklifts, tractors skid-steers, and boats to 30ft.
Performs Other Duties as Assigned
Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining safety data sheets (SDS) throughout the park to ensure that the park meets all safety requirements.
Incumbent will be responsible for keeping their work area clean and clear to assure that all safety requirements are met.
