Located within the facilities division at National Capital Parks-East (NACE), the primary responsibility of this position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance throughout the NACE portfolio. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.

Duties
The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs all aspects of the carpentry, plumbing, and painting trades at journeymen level. Repairs and maintains historic buildings, structures and administrative buildings within accepted safety, health and sanitary conditions.
Perform plumbing on potable water and wastewater systems and related equipment such floats, fittings, sinks, toilets, and fixtures.
Performs electrical wiring necessary to maintain existing 120 and 240 volt electrical systems and troubleshoots and repairs to 24 and 48 volt Photovoltaic power systems.
Plans and lay out projects, making modifications when necessary. Inputs data into a computerized facility management software system and uses electronic email and word processing programs as a component of daily work activities.

For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
