The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an IT Specialist responsible for applying computer programming, software engineering best practices, and cyber security principles for the development, assessment, and fielding of AF and Joint cyberspace tools and weapons
Duties
Writes/codes new (or modifies existing) cyber capabilities, computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs.
Participates on technical teams developing and fielding cyber, computer, and network tools, systems, and capabilities associated with offensive, defensive, and command and control cyberspace operations.
Serves as Project Lead for cyberspace capability development, assessment and fielding.

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to SCI, other Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Special Access Programs to perform the duties of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

- This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission.

Qualifications
This is a GG-12 position in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
NOTE: You must meet both the Basic Qualifications and Specialized Experience requirements stated below:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of a full range of IT and security principles, concepts, practices, products and services (including systems software, database software, immediate access storage technology), and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures; knowledge of a broad range of telecommunications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media, equipment, equipment configuration, and related software systems, processes and procedures to asses and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications; and knowledge of IT procurement policies/procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a full range of IT related software coding and agile software development techniques, computer networking and protocols, modeling/simulation, complex data structures, computer programming including knowledge of interpreted and compiled computer languages and low-level languages e.g. assembly, operating systems, cyber security concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to cyber security and security procedures to maintain control of classified material.
3. Skill in writing code in a currently supported programming language (e.g., C, C++, Python, and Assembly).
4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
5. Knowledge of secure software development practices including secure software deployment methodologies, tools, and practices.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
