About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Industrial Operations at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa.
Duties
Identify component failure on a variety of complex integrated circuitry.
Analyze data from a variety of electrical test equipment.
Recommend solutions to repair electrical units.
Operate hand/power tools to repair electrical units.
Verify correct trouble shooting methods are used on electrical equipment.
Advise others on changes to equipment operation specifications.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be willing to accept a temporary position.
- Pre-employment and annual physicals required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be willing to travel (TDY) up to 15% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain a Soldering Certificate within 3 months of employment.

This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee, and may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be made permanent without further competition.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. Perform common Electronics Mechanic duties such as maintenance on electrical units; and determine the correct trouble shooting methods to be used. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves standing, bending, stooping and protracted periods at consoles. Continuously handles objects weighing from 10 to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normally works in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop areas. Subject to the possibility of cuts, bruises, burns and shock caused by high voltage energy, soldering irons, radiation, etc.
