This is not a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the United States. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Duties
Regularly performs substantial technical research and analysis of complex and usual transactions involving TDY (temporary duty) and PCS (Permanent Change of Station) vouchers for both military and civilian travelers.
Reviews complex and unusual documents to verify accounting data and mathematical accuracy, determines necessary accounting transactions, enters data into a computerized system, reconcile transactions, corrects invalid or incorrect entries.
Researches current accounts, etc., to develop information; suggests interpretation of comparative data reflecting relationships between accounts, etc., identifies significant changes and causes to determine correction.
Assists the supervisor in training new employees with routine operating procedures and basic accounting technician policies and practices to include job training.
Duties will be developmental in nature when the position is filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications
GS-06 Specialized Experience is defined as: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service applying knowledge of accounting systems, policies and procedures for the examination, verification and maintenance of accounts and accounting data; validating, monitoring and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records; researching discrepancies and making adjustments.
GS-07 Specialized Experience is defined as: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-06 if outside the Federal service examining and maintaining accounts or financial ledgers; posting financial transactions; verifying entitlement documents; generating problem resolutions; preparing financial reports; reconciling accounts; and working with a variety of accounting and automated financial systems.
GS-06 Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.
GS-07 Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.

Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
