The Senior Information Technology Specialist (Network Engineer) manages the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network infrastructure within FHFA. The incumbent will manage the maintenance and deployment of hardware and both on-premises and cloud-based network infrastructure to maximize reliability, performance, and security. Additionally, incumbent will lead response efforts in the case of outages or security incidents.

Qualifications
Qualifying experience for the EL-14 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to EL/GS-13 which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Configuring, installing, and maintaining network equipment, such as firewalls, routers, switchers, and load balancers.
Managing an agency's network and cloud-based applications using Cisco systems and networks.
Installing and maintaining telephony systems for an agency or organization.
Project managing information technology network programs and projects, including coordinating the involvement of contractors.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
