You will serve as the Deputy to the Chief, Information Officer regarding all supervisory and management matters, and serves as Acting Chief in his absence. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-driven workplace.
This position is not a remote location position.
Duties
As a GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Overseeing the day-to-day IT operations of the Civil Division ensuring that all Civil Division IT operations and services function smoothly and that all the advice and assistance provided complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Serving as the principal advisor to the CIO on all strategic IT-related matters.
Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to executive management on critical IT issues and making decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs.
Serving as a senior consultant to top management officials on the design, development, and administration of various mission critical IT systems that support core agency functions and ensuring that enterprise architecture plans are aligned with current and future infrastructure.
Developing and implementing technology-oriented best practices across the organization and positioning Civil Division as a leader in cutting-edge innovative technology.
Establishing office policy, resolving employee complaints, taking action on disciplinary matters, identifying training needs, developing performance standards, participating in interviews, and recommending the selection of candidates.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Selective service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31, 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
- You must meet all eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement and continue to meet those requirements throughout the hiring process. Offers can be rescinded if requirements are not met.
- You may be required to complete a one year supervisory probationary period, if you have not already completed one.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a final Top Secret Clearance with SCI access. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in withdrawal of the job offer or removal.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory IT Specialist (Policy and Planning), GS-2210-15, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level as listed in the qualifications below. Time-in-Grade applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF-50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
To qualify for the GS-2210-15 Supervisory IT Specialist (Policy & Planning) position, you must demonstrate that you have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level performing such duties as: applying extensive knowledge of cutting-edge technologies and techniques to advance mission needs; formulating and recommending plans to improve system and program policies; advising on all strategic IT related matters; providing broad policy, priorities, and program guidance in support of IT mission requirements; overseeing other's work; providing guidelines, and performance expectations to others.
